Tiger Leaping Gorge Features

The Tiger Leaping Gorge is a beautiful gully on the Jinsha River, an essential tributary of the upper Yangtze River. It is a piece of the Three Parallel of Yunnan Protected Areas UNESCO World Heritage Site. Being one of the most profound chasms on the planet, Tiger Leaping Gorge is a world-well known climbing trail through probably the most normally wonderful and differing scenes China brings to the table.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is situated between the 5596 meters Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Xueshan) toward the south and 5396 meters Haba Snow Mountain (Haba Xueshan) toward the north. Legend says that so as to escape from a seeker, a tiger hopped over the stream at the tightest point, henceforth named Tiger Leaping Gorge and the stone called Tiger Leaping Rock.

Around 18 kilometers long, Tiger Leaping Gorge is isolated into three sections: Upper Gorge, Middle Gorge and Lower Gorge. Explorers can trek from Upper Gorge to Lower Gorge, or from Lower Gorge to Upper Gorge. Indeed, numerous voyagers pick one canyon to climb - Upper Gorge or Middle Gorge.
